RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD, Oct 22: Naanbais of Rawalpindi city have agreed to call off their strike, District Price Control Committee (DPCC) Chairman Haji Mohammad Jamal said on Monday.
Speaking at a press conference, Mr Jamal said the Naanbais had agreed to sell Roti at Rs3 following an agreement between the city district government and Naanbais Association.
Haji Jamal said Tandoors had reopened in Rawalpindi city and its adjoining areas.
He maintained that Roti would be sold at Rs3, adding that violators would be punished according to the Price Control Act.
Naanbais of Islamabad on Monday demanded of the government to take action against the flour mills owners for the recent wheat crisis.
Eram Naan Centre G-6 Markaz owner Raja Saghir Khan claimed that several mills exported flour to neighbouring countries, creating problems for the common man.
He was of the view that rate of a gram flour bag was Rs1,830 while that of fine flour was Rs1,680.
The owner of Naan Centre at Melody Market said the government should take action against the mills association for creating artificial shortage and for increasing flour prices.
Naanbais Association has decided to end its week-long strike and start selling Naan at increased price of Rs4.
The rate of a simple Naan is Rs4, Roti Rs3, Roghni Naan Rs7, Tandoori Paratha Rs7, Afghani Naan Rs8, Qeema Naan Rs20 and Vegetable Naan is Rs18.—APP
