Govt assessing its weaknesses: CM

PESHAWAR, Oct 21: NWFP caretaker Chief Minister Shamsul Mulk has said that the important role of political forces, Pukhtun society and civil society in supplementing government efforts for durable peace in the province cannot be ignored.

Talking to members of the civil society and local politicians here on Sunday, he said that everyone should work for the collective benefit of the people.

He asked journalists to help the government in tackling the issue.

He said that even though the government had the wherewithal to establish its writ in the region, the backing of political forces, the elders and the civil society was needed to establish durable peace.

“Collectively we can overcome all our problems,” he said.

He said the government was assessing its weaknesses and would take steps in the best interest of people.

He said the government would not rest until peace was restored in Swat and other troubled areas of the province.—APP
