Trezeguet mulls quitting France

ROME, Oct 20: Juventus striker David Trezeguet said on Friday he is considering quitting the French national team after being dropped by coach Raymond Domenech.

“The way Domenech has treated me is unacceptable. I’m seriously thinking of saying ‘that’s it’ to the national team,” the 30-year-old told Mediaset television.

Domenech left Trezeguet out of his squad for France’s Euro 2008 qualifiers against Lithuania and the Faroe Islands over the past week, despite the player’s excellent form for Juventus.

The forward has scored seven goals in Serie A so far this season.

Trezeguet was part of France’s 1998 World Cup-winning squad and he scored the golden goal that gave Les Bleus victory over Italy in the final of Euro 2000.

But his miss in last year’s World Cup final penalty shoot-out helped the Italians to avenge that defeat.—Reuters
