PML names candidate for Kasur nazim

KASUR, Oct 19: After the disqualification of district nazim Rana Muhammad Hayat, who was backed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML) has fielded Hayat’s cousin and political rival Rana Imtiaz for the nazim’s office.

Imtiaz, who has previously served as Kasur district nazim after winning the election from the PML platform, had challenged Hayat’s election in the court, pleading that he was a defaulter of Rs160 million.

The PML-N is considering the names of its provincial vice-president, Rana Muhammad Iqbal, and former Pattoki tehsil nazim Rana Ishaq for the nazim’s office.

The election schedule has yet to be announced.

SHOT DEAD: Two robbers shot dead the owner of a petrol pump during a robbery attempt in Allahabad police precincts on Thursday.

Two robbers on motorcycles came to Iqbal’s petrol pump in Gallan Hathar village and tried to snatch money from cashier Shabbir after getting their bikes filled with fuel. Iqbal came out of his office and tried to catch the robbers, who opened fire on him and killed him at the scene.
