Sharif brothers condemn attack

By Our Special Correspondent

LONDON, Oct 19: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif have condemned Thursday’s attack on PPP leader Benazir Bhutto’s rally, terming it “a cowardly attack by those whose values do not include tolerance and respect for life”.

They said in a statement that despite claims to the contrary, the regime had failed in providing fool-proof security for Benazir’s rally.

They said that on the occasion of Benazir’s return to Pakistan on April 10, 1986, to Lahore the-then chief minister of Punjab was Nawaz Sharif who had ensured that there was no security lapse in a rally much bigger than the one in Karachi on Thursday and not a soul was injured.

Both leaders extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of those who died in the attack.

Fateha was offered for the departed souls at the PML-N International Secretariat. Those present included PML-N Sindh president Syed Ghous Ali Shah, PML-N joint secretary Nadir Chaudhri and the party’s UK president Zubair Gul.
