KARACHI, Oct 19: The Labour Party of Pakistan (LPP) on Saturday demanded setting up of a judicial commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to conduct an inquiry into the bombing of the PPP rally on Thursday.

In a statement, the party termed the attack a conspiracy aimed at sabotaging the process of the country’s march towards democracy.

The LPP postponed its demonstrations scheduled for Oct 22 against feudal lords and their highhandedness against tillers and haris. It also expressed solidarity with the PPP by announcing a three-day mourning by its members and supporters to condemn the bomb attack.

It deplored that despite the heavy loss of life suffered by innocent people, the rulers appeared not ready to concede their failure in ensuring safety and security of citizens.

The party urged the government to grant a compensation of Rs2 million for each deceased and Rs500,000 each to the injured.

It also demanded provision of proper medical treatment to the needy ones.
