LAHORE, Oct 18: Mills should ensure supply of flour in the market at the same ratio at which wheat is being provided to them by the Punjab government.
Punjab Food Minister Hasnain Jahanian Gardezi, at a meeting of the Provincial Price Stabilisation Committee, said the government would ensure sale of 20kg flour bag at the ex-mill rate of Rs285 and retail price of Rs295. Profiteers would be dealt with strictly, he warned.
He said due to timely measures by the government and cooperation of the Flour Mills Association, the problem of wheat flour shortage had been completely resolved. “However, the government is keeping a vigilant eye on the situation of flour supply and price,” he added.
He said over 347,000 20kg flour bags were supplied to five big cities of the province on Wednesday.
Representatives of the Flour Mills Association assured that they would cooperate with the government to ensure the continuous supply of flour in all districts of the province.
The committee also discussed the flour supply and price of wheat flour and other commodities in various districts of the province, and expressed satisfaction over the sale of daily-use commodities at reasonable rates.—APP
