KARACHI, Oct 18: Brisk shipping activity was witnessed at the port where four ships carrying containers, edible oil and chemicals were allotted berths at QICT, MPT and Engro Vopak terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release.

Meanwhile another four ships with containers and furnace oil arrived at the outer anchorage during the report period.

Berth occupancy remained at 70 per cent at the port where seven ships occupied berths to unload, load containers, cement, coal, seeds and chemicals, respectively, during the period under review.

The port handled 54,124 tons of cargo comprising 45,500 tons imports and 5,626 tons export inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,457 containers.

Five ships sailed out to the sea during the period under review.
