KARACHI, Oct 17: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has accused the Pakistan People’s Party of initiating a corruption drive even before coming into power, by spending a huge sum of money on a publicity campaign.
Speaking at an Eid Milan get-together hosted for the legislators of the ruling alliance at the Chief Minister’s House on Wednesday, Dr Rahim alleged that PPP was collecting hefty funds from the business community to finance its election campaign. “Rs170 million is reported to have been earmarked by the PPP for its election campaign,” he said, adding that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League would contest the election on the basis of its performance.
He vowed to highlight the alleged corruption of PPP governments in the upcoming election campaign.
Dr Rahim said the people of Pakistan were being led to believe that Ms Bhutto would come into power shortly after her homecoming. “But the fact of the matter is that a constitutional amendment is needed to enable her to become prime minister for the third time.”
