LAHORE, Oct 17: Five countries will vie for top honours in the four-day 47th National Amateur golf championship, commencing at the Lahore Gymkhana from Thursday.
Golfers from Pakistan, India, Iran, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are participating in the event.
Unfolding details of the championship, Pakistan Golf Federation secretary Taimur Hassan said Pakistan would also be playing against Sri Lanka as defending champions of the J.R. Jayawardene Trophy.
He said all the teams would play in the amateur championship on all the four days.
A two-day international team match on Oct 18 and 19 is also included in the programme. Besides Jayewardene trophy, the competitions for ladies amateur and senior amateur will also be held.
Taimur said the championship trophy for each category will be on Gross score. He said all the foreign teams have arrived in Lahore.

India: Rashid Khan, Rahul Bakshi, Moeen Malik (men).
Iran: Syed Mahmoud Jozi, Mohsennomirien Mujorad, Ali Reza Erfani, Amir Houshmand, Reza Asghari (men); Syed Talieh Khalkhali, Leyla Rahimi Aghababael, Ms Safoura Beigi (women).
Sri Lanka: JMD Indka, K.A. Chandradasa, K. Parbagaran, Mithun Petera (men); Dhanushi Senadhira, Mrs Nillo Jayathillake (women).
Bangladesh: Muhammad Sayum, Sakhawat Hossain Sohel, Zamal Hossain Mollah, Shahid Khan (men); Luna Sarker, Fatema Rahman (women).
