KARACHI: Alternative traffic routes announced


KARACHI, Oct 17: DIG Traffic Wajid Ali Khan has said that the welcome rally for PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto will start from Karachi airport and approach Mazar-i-Quaid via Sharea Faisal on Thursday.

The party leaders will address a procession at a ground adjacent to Link Chowrangi there.

In this regard the roads on the right and left sides of Sharea Faisal will be closed. The roads falling on the right side of this artery include Allama Iqbal cut near Star Gate, Colony Gate and Shah Faisal Colony Bridge, Cantt Bazaar near Railway Line, PAF crossing, a road from Baloch Colony, TCS office cut, Mehmoodabad intersection, Masjid-i-Rumi crossing, CSD, Gora Qabrastan, Bizerta Line and Aisha Bawany School.

The roads falling on the left side that will be closed include Rashid Minhas Road near COD and Army Public School, PAF signal, H.I.R Road after PNS Karsaz, Mohammad Ali Society signal, Tipu Sultan-Shaheed-i-Millat signal, Dr Mehmood Hussain Road, Lal Kothi, Shahrah-i-Quaideen, PECHS Petrol Pump cut, Capt Bukhari Road crossing, Mubarak Shaheed Road and Baloch Mess cut.

Similarly, the roads leading to Mazar-i-Quaid that will be closed for the public include: M.A. Jinnah Road at Capri Cinema, Britto Road at Old Numaish crossing, Guru Mandir opposite Guru Mandir signal, Jail Chowrangi from New M.A. Jinnah Road, Jamshed Road at Guru Mandir, Kashmir Road near Society Office, Shaheed-i-Millat Road at Jail Chowrangi crossing, Khalid Bin Walid Road, PPP Chowrangi and adjoining streets, Nizamani Road near Tai Karate Centre crossing and all streets of Parsi Colony leading towards Mazar-i-Quaid.

As an alternative route people from the city and the National Highway can reach the airport via M.A. Jinnah Road. All types of traffic going to the airport from M.A. Jinnah Road and University Road would use Aga Khan III Road, Garden Baghicha Chowrangi, Lasbella, Teen Hatti, Pir Colony from Jail Chowrangi, New Town Chowrangi, Old Sabzi Mandi, Hassan Square, Nipa Chowrangi, Safoora Goth, Malir Cantt MP checkpoint, Model Colony Qabrastan, airport. On the left side Malir Halt and National Highway will be the alternate routes.

Those coming from Clifton and Defence will use Sunset Boulevard, Ittehad Crossing, Korangi Road, Qayyumabad Bridge, Jam Sadiq Bridge, Korangi Industrial Area, Dawood Chowrangi, from the left side Malir-15 and from the right side Malir Halt.—PPI
