MARDAN, Oct 17: A caravan of PPP workers, leaders and lawyers left here for Karachi to welcome party chairperson Benazir Bhutto on her arrival from abroad on Thursday.

Haji Arshad Khan and People’s Youth Organisation (PYO) president Niaz Ali Khan led PPP workers, while lawyers were led by Mardan District Bar Association president Khan Ghawas Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, Khan Ghawas said that over one million workers of PPP would gather at the Karachi airport to welcome Benazir Bhutto.

He said it was the government’s responsibility to make adequate security arrangements on the occasion.

SWABI: PPP district president Manfat Khan and Swabi tehsil president Javed Inqilabi have said that Ms Bhutto’s return would help renew the struggle for the restoration of a genuine democratic culture in the country.

Talking to journalists here on Wednesday, they said that Ms Bhutto’s return at this critical time was a good omen for the struggle of democracy and human rights.

They said PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a true political leader, who enabled the country to become a nuclear power.
