Ten faint after taking poisonous pudding

TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 16: Ten members of a family fainted after consuming poisonous pudding in Chak 257-GB on Sunday night.

Four children, three men and as many women of Chaudhry Hammad Ashraf’s family took ‘kheer’ prepared for Eid celebrations and fell unconscious. They were taken to DHQ Hospital where they are in a stable condition.

Doctors took samples of the food they consumed and sent them for laboratory tests in Allied Hospital. Locals said that some insect might have fallen in the utensil while pudding was being cooked, making the food poisonous.

PROBE: Kamalia judicial magistrate Waseem Anjum will resume proceedings of judicial inquiry into the killing of four robbers in a shootout with Chuttiana police on August 10, on Wednesday (today).

Sessions judge Jalaluddin Akbar had ordered conducting the probe. The inquiry officer had recorded testimony of police officials and witnesses at the last hearing held at courts complex in Pirmahal. — Correspondent
