KARACHI: Former FCS director dies

KARACHI, Oct 16: A prominent social figure of Lyari and a representative of the fishermen community in Sindh and Balochistan, Seth Deedag Baloch, died here on Monday after a protracted illness. He was 87. He and leaves behind five sons and seven daughters.

Deedag Baloch was buried in the Morarro graveyard in the same afternoon. Elders of fishermen community, directors and officials of the Fishermen Cooperative Society (FCS) and a cross section of Baloch populace, besides his relatives and friends, attended the funeral. Deedag was elected as FCS director in 1959 and held the office till 1995. He was widely respected in his community for his social and philanthropist services and contribution to the cause of education and health in the community.

His soyem will be held on Wednesday at his residence in Ali Mohammad Mohalla, Kalri, Lyari Town.
