Four power pylons blown up in Dera Bugti

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, Oct 13: Power supply was suspended to Dera Bugti and many other areas after militants blew up four pylons of the transmission line on Saturday.

Police sources said the militants placed high-intensity explosive devices under the pylons of a 33KV transmission line and blew them up in small hours of the morning.

Quetta Electric Supply Company officials said engineers and other staff were sent to the area for repair work.

Militants also fired rockets at the FC checkpost in Sui area. However, all three rockets exploded at an open place.

Two rockets were fired in Kohlu that also could not reach their target.

Gas supply to the Sui purification plant was disrupted after militants blew up a pipeline on Friday.

Police sources said a high explosive device had been planted under the pipeline linking seven gas wells with the main plant. A big portion of the 18-inch pipeline was blown up affecting gas supply to the plant.

However, the plant was fully operational and gas supply to Sindh and Punjab remained unaffected.

Pakistan Petroleum Limited sources said that repair work on the damaged pipeline had been started and it would be completed by Saturday morning.

In another incident, militants planted a powerful bomb under a 24-inch diameter pipeline supplying gas to the Sui main purification plant near Pir Koh.

The pipeline caught fire after the blast that was put out after suspending gas supply to the affected pipeline from the Pir Koh gas field.
