Rs2.5m dacoity in ex-MPA’s house

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, Oct 12: Around 20 dacoits stormed the houses of MNA Makhdoom Ahmad Alam Anwar and his nephew Masood Alam, also a former MPA, in Mohsinabad locality near Tarinda Muhammed Panah, about 100km away from here on Thursday night, and fled after collecting booty worth Rs2.5 million.

MNA Anwar’s native house was vacant as he now lives in Bahawalpur. Nowadays, he is in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

A gang consisting of around 20 dacoits resorting to aerial firing stormed the MNA’s locked house at midnight, but could not get anything.

Later, they entered the house of his nephew, Masood Alam, took the family at gunpoint, tied them with ropes and confined them in a room.

The dacoits collected licenced guns, jewellery, cash and valuables worth Rs2.5 million and fled amid aerial firing.

Gunshots panicked the locals who claimed that they repeatedly tried to contact Tarinda police by telephone in the meanwhile, but nobody picked up their calls. Later, the police registered a case and started investigations. However, they are clueless as yet.
