Unicef closes seven girls’ schools

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, Oct 11: Unicef on Thursday closed its seven girl schools in Huramzai area of Pishin after receiving threats from militants.

The UN body had opened the schools under its literacy programme for girls in Killi Karbala, Killi Gangalzai and Killi Shanghari villages. About 17 teachers had been appointed.

Unicef’s area coordinator said: “We closed the schools to save the lives of our teaching and other staff.”
