Associations demand to see new PCB constitution

LAHORE, Oct 11: The Lahore and Karachi City Cricket Associations have urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to make available to them the copies of the new constitution of the Board in order to help them know their role in the new set up of Governing Body.

“We demanded the provision of the constitution during the first meeting of the Governing Body at Karachi recently but Board authorities failed to comply to our request,” said the President, Lahore City Cricket Association, Aamir Hayat Rokhari and the Secretary Karachi City CricketAssociation, Prof Sirajul Islam Bokhari in a joint statement here on Thursday.

They said it was unfortunate that Cricket Associations of the country were deprived access to the constitution which in the given circumstances appears to be a holy document.

“We have not yet gone through the new constitution, so how can we know our responsibilities and how can we be aware of changes made in the constitution and what role we have been assigned with?,” they asked.

The LCCA chief said the PCB authorities still believe in running the affairs of the board on ad-hocism rather than running it under the constitution.

“It seems as if they donot need to obey the constitution and they can take decisions on their own without considering the opinion of members of the cricket associations who are in the governing body,” he said.

Bokhari said the affiliated member associations were not even aware of their tenure in the governing body as they have not gone through the constitution. “It was the duty of the PCB to provide the copies of the constitution to all the cricket associations to get their feed back before finalising it and sending it to the Patron for its approval, but sadly PCB did not give any importance to the associations in this regard and even after the approval of the constitution it has been kept a secret,” he added.

“We appeal to the PCB Chief to look into the situation and take steps to address our problems by fulfilling the promises he made to the Associations.”—APP
