Masses to hold religious alliance accountable, says Sherpao
PESHAWAR, Oct 11: Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Sherpao has said the masses will hold the provincial MMA government accountable for every misappropriated penny of the national exchequer and the alliance leaders cannot absolve themselves of bad governance by resigning from assemblies.
Inaugurating the Rs10 million gas supply project for Sholgara in the Charsadda district, Mr Sherpao said mudslinging and blame-game of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) and the Jamaat-i-Islami had exposed the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA).
He accused the MMA government of neglecting Charsadda in public welfare projects and said it was an evidence of its nepotism. He said the alliance leaders had used development funds in a few selected districts. The price for the self-centred policies of the MMA leadership was being paid by the underprivileged and impoverished masses of the NWFP, he added.
Mr Sherpao said his party would continue efforts for improving the lot of the masses. He said inauguration of the gas supply scheme was an Eid gift for the people of Sholgara.
He said the People’s Party had always struggled for the rights of Pakhtuns and would continue their struggle.
He said the spilling of blood of Pakhtuns on both sides of the Pakistan-Afghan border was tragic and unfortunate. He, however, highlighted the significance of the Pakistan-Afghanistan grand jirga and said it had been successful in creating an atmosphere conducive for negotiations.—APP
