NOWSHERA, Oct 10: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam has severely harmed the cause of the All Parties Democratic Movement but it would not relent in its anti-Musharraf campaign and carry out protest till its logical end, according to chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek Insaf Imran Khan.

“The MMA must take action against the JUI-F for its role in presidential elections and hold the party accountable,” he said.

He was addressing a seminar on the ‘role of media in free, fair and transparent election’, at the press club here on Wednesday.

He said a review petition regarding dual offices of Pervez Musharraf was being submitted.

He said that his party would oppose anyone who supported President Musharraf’s illegitimate rule, adding that the present assemblies were ineligible to elect the president.

Terming Benazir Bhutto’s support for Musharraf treacherous, he said that the National Reconciliation Ordinance was a deal among “thieves and plunderers of national wealth”. According to him, people were struggling with the effects of spiralling prices, unemployment and disease while the rulers were busy in looting the national wealth with both hands.

The NRO, he said, would make a difference in elections, adding that the people would reject anyone who had benefited from the ordinance.

“Voters will rout supporters of President Musharraf.

“In a bid to garner US support, Ms Bhutto has agreed to support bombardment by Pakistani and foreign troops over innocent, women and children and peaceful people of Fata,” he said, adding that playing with the lives of the people amounted to failure of the government.
