KOHAT, Oct 9: The Kohat district food controller on Tuesday conducted raids in the bazaars of Kohat, Lachi Town and Bilitang and imposed a cumulative fine of Rs46,600 on 58 shopkeepers for being involved in profiteering.

It was the second raid by the district food controller in Ramazan during which he warned the shopkeepers to charge consumers according to official price lists.

According to a press release, he collected samples of eatables from nine shops and sent them to the laboratory for testing. The shopkeepers were fined under section 3/6 of the Food Control Act of 1958, said the press release.
