Pakistani named as UN body’s adviser

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 9: UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon on Monday appointed Lt General Ahmad Shuja Pasha, a Pakistani as Military Adviser of the United Nations Department of Peace Keeping Operations (DPKO), replacing Gen Per Arne Five.

Gen Ahmad Shuja Pasha, whose career is spread over 30 years, commanded an infantry division, a mechanised infantry brigade, infantry battalion and served as Director General of Military Operation. He will hold the status of Assistant Secretary General in the DPKO, a UN statement said.
