Good turnout on opening day

LAHORE, Oct 8: A sizaeble crowd was seen after a long time, at a Test match on the first day of second Test between Pakistan and South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.

Unexpectedly, around 4,000 cricket spectators, mostly sitting in general enclosures, where entry was free, watched the match on the first day. In the recent past, Test matches, even between two arch-rivals India and Pakistan, had failed to pull in such a crowd in the stadium.

Though the PCB had announced a package to facilitate the spectators, including running a shuttle bus service from the two entrance to stadium from Ferozepur Road and Liberty Chowk, there was no such service available. The PCB had also promised to provide free mineral water to the spectators, but the idea could not be succeed mainly because of holy month of Ramazan.—Sports Reporter
