KARACHI : Dept seeks extension in college admission date

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Oct 8: The Sindh education department has requested the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) to extend the last date of enrolment in colleges to Oct 27, a senior official of the department said.

Earlier, the board had asked the Centralised Admission Policy (CAP) Committee to complete its process of admissions and placements of candidates in colleges by Oct 9 so that the students could be given sufficient time for their studies.

“We have sought extension in the enrolment date in view of the upcoming Eid festivities and facilitating disposal of the remaining students’ applications regarded as hardship cases,” Dr Rafique Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of the CAP Committee and Director-General of Colleges (Sindh) told Dawn.

According to him, all but two claim centres — one for girls at the Women’s College, Frere Road and another for boys at the Adamjee College — have been closed and all hardship cases are expected to be disposed of before the Eidul Fitr.
