Yousuf regaining top fitness: trainer

By Our Sports Reporter

LAHORE, Oct 7: Pakistan cricket team trainer David Dwyer believes that prolific batsman Mohammad Yousuf is regaining top fitness level due to hard work.

“Yousuf is a world-class cricketer and working hard to achieve top- level fitness as soon as possible,” Dwyer, who is an Australian, told reporters here on Sunday.

Yousuf remained away from cricket for almost three months and is making his comeback in the second Test against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.

The middle-order batsman had been selected for the first Test at Karachi but could not participate due to lack to fitness and form.

“He has been training under me for last one week and is improving fast. I hope he will regain complete fitness in three weeks,” the trainer said.

When asked if he was happy with Yousuf’s fitness, Dwyer said: “I am completely satisfied with the progress he has shown.”

About Inzamam-ul-Haq’s fitness, who is due to play his last Test here, the trainer said he did not know much about him as he had seen the bulky batsman only in the nets on Sunday.
