Train driver injured

LAHORE, Oct 7: Shalimar Express driver was injured when the train rammed into a truck at an unmanned crossing near Kahana on Sunday morning.

Following the accident, traffic on the main line remained suspended for four hours.

Police said the truck was stuck up in the middle of the rails a few minutes before the arrival of the Karachi-bound train.Train driver Tanvir did apply emergency brakes after spotting the truck. Though he could not avoid the collision, he managed to slow down the train and subsequently averted a major disaster, a railway official said. Tanvir was shifted to the hospital by Rescue-1122.
