HYDERABAD: Couple, two relatives kidnapped before Nikah
Bureau Report
HYDERABAD, Oct 7: A disgruntled man kidnapped his niece, her would-be husband, her mother, younger sister and four invitees to the wedding ceremony before Nikah could be solemnised in Qasimabad near the embankment of the River Indus late on Saturday night.
It was reported that the bride’s uncle, Jangli Hajano with four armed persons, forced into the house where the marriage ceremony was being held and took away bridegroom Abdul Ghaffar Hajano, bride Zohra, her mother Makhan and younger sister Sohni at gunpoint.
Mr Khadim, the bridegroom’s brother, said that the family went to Qasimabad police station to register an FIR but they refused to register it on the pretext of SHO’s absence. They again went to the police station on Sunday morning but met no responsible officer there, he added.
Reports said that Jangli Hajano had openly voiced his displeasure over the marriage of her niece with Abdul Ghaffar. Therefore, he took her and her family away before Nikah.
APP adds: The bridegroom’s mother said that they had gone to the police station after midnight and were asked by police to come in the morning. When they approached police on Sunday they were again turned away, she said.
She expressed fear that the kidnappers might kill her son and demanded that the authorities concerned should help find him and his bride.
