Tribesman killed

By Our Correspondent

MIRAMSHAH, Oct 6: A tribesman was killed and five security personnel were wounded in clashes with militants in North Waziristan Agency on Friday.

According to eyewitnesses, a soldiers’ convoy opened fire in the Mirali bazaar, killing one tribesman. However, they did not say what provoked the firing. The convoy was heading towards Bannu.

Militants attacked the Miramshah Fort and a checkpost in the Ghulam Khan area with rockets on Thursday night, wounding three soldiers. The forces countered the attack, firing mortar shells.

Two paramilitary soldiers were injured after being hit by a remote-controlled explosive device near the Machas checkpost.

The soldiers were bringing a water for their use. The tanker was also damaged.

Another Bannu-bound military convoy was attacked with three remote-controlled bombs in the Karam Kot area.

The soldiers fired on unseen assailants. No loss of life was reported.
