HARIPUR, Oct 6: A man was killed and two people suffered injuries when robbers opened fire on them in village Rafiqabad near Aldo, some five kilometres from Tehsil Ghazi on Friday.

Police quoted a villager, Arjumand Khan, as saying that he and his two friends were going to attend a Mehfl-i-Na’at at village Rafiqabad.

When they were near Ghazi Brotha Canal five masked men armed with Kalashnikovs and pistols waylaid them and asked to surrender whatever they had.

He said that when one of them tried to put up resistance the robbers opened fire, killing one of them. The deceased was identified as Saleh Mohammad.

Police said the complainant and his companion, Iftikhar, were injured when the robbers beat them with butts and fists. The robbers decamped with Rs18,000 cash and a cell phone.
