HYDERABAD, Oct 6: The leaders of Sunni Tehrik have strongly criticised announcement of general amnesty for the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats terming it as a punishment to the entire nation.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Mohammad Khalid Qadri, Allama Noor Ahmed and Ali Nawaz Qasimi said that with the promulgation of the proposed reconciliation ordinance, the country had been pushed back into the dark ages when only poor were punished while the rich were considered immune from all punishments.
The Tehrik leaders said that amnesty for corrupt politicians and feudal lords, who had looted the banks in the name of loans and were responsible for hyperinflation in the country which was forcing the poor to commit suicide, was tantamount to encouraging the corrupt elements. They demanded that the corrupt people whether they belonged to the government or opposition parties should be awarded deterrent punishment and the looted amount should be taken back to provide relief to the common man. All the false cases registered against Tehrik workers on political grounds should be withdrawn, the urged.
ADMISSIONS: The registrar of the University of Sindh announced on Saturday that offices of the directorate of admissions would remain open on Sunday from 9am to 3pm to receive forms for admission to bachelors and masters degree programme for 2008 session.
The registrar advised the candidates and their parents to submit forms at AC-II of the administration block of the university along with required documents.
The last date for submission of forms for admissions to all the disciplines of bachelors and masters degree programme was Oct 9.
MOU: The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of the University of Sindh and the Institute of Bankers of Pakistan would be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Oct 8 for launching MBA in Banking and Finance in the new session.
