Militant killed in clashes with security forces

By Saleem Shahid

QUETTA, Oct 5: Clashes were reported on Thursday night and Friday between security forces and militants in Tartani and Karmo Wadh areas of the troubled Kohlu district.

At least one militant died and four others were injured.

Official sources said that security forces launched an operation after militants had attacked two checkposts using rockets and other heavy weapons.

The sources confirmed on Friday that four militants were arrested by the security personnel who were also injured in the fighting.

“Heavy exchange of fire continued on Friday,” the sources added.

After receiving information about the re-establishment of a Farari camp by militants, more troops were moved into the area who launched a search operation, said the sources.

EXPLOSION: Three persons, including two children, suffered serious injuries on Friday when an explosive device planted near a gate of the gas purification plant of the Pakistan Petroleum Limited went off with a bang in the Sui town of Dera Bugti district.

Police rushed to the site and took the injured, residents of Bugti Colony, to a hospital in Sui. The children were identified as Sanjar and Qambar.

Some suspects have been taken into custody and investigation is in progress.
