Rally

Published October 6, 2007

LAHORE, Oct 5: In a rare move to express solidarity with President Gen Pervez Musharraf a day before the presidential election, Christian clergymen on Friday organised a rally as their gratitude to the president on behalf of the community for ‘the good work’ the government has done for the religious minorities.

About 150 of them, including 26 bishops from a number of churches, gathered outside the Lahore Press Club and then marched on Egerton Road carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in support of the president. The bishops were clad in their traditional gowns and robes and walked quietly.
