RAWALPINDI, Oct 5: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday put off hearing of the murder case of Maulana Azam Tariq, chief of the disbanded Sipah-i-Sahaba, till Oct 11.

ATC Judge Habibur Rehman deferred the case as he had sought trail of two suspects Mohammad Ali and Mudassir at the Central Jail Adiala due to sensitivity of the case. The judge had written to the chief commissioner Islamabad in this regard who could not respond by then.

Three accused, Sajid Naqvi, Amanullah Sial and Nasir, had already been acquitted in the case. Maulana Tariq was killed by gunmen in Islamabad on Oct 6, 2003.

Meanwhile, an additional district and sessions judge deferred a police torture case till Oct 11.

Waheed Anjum advocate appeared on the behest of the widow of Abdul Qayyum, who was allegedly tortured to death in the custody of Westridge police on July 24 this year.
