Premier League begins from Nov 1

LAHORE, Oct 2: Fourteen tea-ms will vie for top honour in the fourth Pakistan Premier Football League, starting from Nov 1.

Based on performance, eleven top teams of last year’s event and two top teams of PFF League 2006 have qualified for the event.

The winner will earn a ticket to next year’s fourth AFC President’s Cup.

The tournament has a purse of Rs500,000 for winners whereas runners-up will pocket Rs300,000. Third-placed team will get Rs200,000.

The most valuable player of the tournament will get Rs50,000 while leading scorer and the best goalkeeper will pocket Rs30,000 each.

In order to promote sportsmanship, the Pakistan Football Federation has decided to hand over Rs50,000 to winner of the Fair Play trophy.

In addition, Rs3.64 million will be distributed among participants as bonus. Each match will have Rs20,000 as bonus. The winner of the match will get Rs15,000 and the loser Rs5,000.

Participating teams:

Wapda, Army, Khan Research Laboratories, Karachi Port Trust, Railways, National Bank of Pakistan, Navy, Habib Bank Limited, Karachi Electric Supply Corporation, Chaman’s Afghan Club, Lahore’s Hafiz Wohaib Butt Memorial Club, PIA, Pakistan Television Corporation, Faisalabad’s Punjab Medical College.
