KHANEWAL, Oct 2: The Khanewal Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) is least interested in shifting buffalos and cows from the residential areas to outside the city.

Cattle roam freely in colonies No 1, 2 and 3, blocks No 2 and 3, Gharibabad, Shadman Town, Marzipura and Green Town spreading refuse here and there. Milk-sellers keep their cattle in streets and on roads without any restriction from the TMA.

Why should we shift our cattle to other places, as we keep them in our houses, said a milk-seller. He said it would be difficult for them to shift cattle from the residential areas unless the TMA arranged a place for them.

Muhammad Shahbaz, of Green Town, demanded the TMA shift the cattle den from the residential areas, as they were polluting environment.

He claimed there were about 500 cattle being kept by milk-sellers in the residential areas.

FAZL PARK: The land adjacent to Fazl Park has become a filth depot thus affecting the beauty of the park. The four acres were reportedly to be utilised for a lake, but the TMA failed to accomplish the project since existence of the Fazl Park 20 years ago.

“The land can be used for a big boating pond for the citizens and the TMA may earn revenue from it,” said Muhammad Arif, a local resident.

When contacted, Khanewal TMO Syed Raza Mehdi Baqir said the TMA had yet to plan about the shifting of cattle from the city.

About the land adjacent to Fazl Park, he said the TMA had no plan to have a boating pond at the place due to a lack of funds.
