Two MPAs back out of commitment

QUETTA, Oct 2: In a surprise move, two legislators of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) — Agha Faisal Daud and Amna Khanam — have gone back on their commitment to resign from the Balochistan assembly. They asked the speaker not to accept their resignations in their absence.

MMA parliamentary leader Maulana Abdul Wasay had submitted their resignations to the speaker along with those of other members. Ms Khanam was present when the resignations were being submitted but Agha Faisal Daud was not.

However, in the afternoon the speaker received fax messages from Mr Daud and Ms Khanam in which they requested him not to accept their resignations.

Mr Daud, a provincial minister, said in his message that resignations a few years ago would have been meaningful but now they were futile.

He accused the parliamentary leader of MMA, Maulana Abdul Wasay, of allegedly ignoring his constituency vis-a-vis the development schemes.

He said he did not want to resign from the assembly.—Staff Correspondent
