Boy suspected to be polio victim

MIRPURKHAS Oct 2: A child suspected to be a polio victim was admitted to the Civil Hospital, here on Monday.

Souraj Meghwar 7, of Kot Ghulam Mohammed Taluka was brought to the Civil Hospital where doctors after examination suspected him a polio victim.

Doctors on Tuesday sent the samples to laboratory in Islamabad. District In-charge, Polio Programme Mirpurkhas, Dr Ashfaque Ahmed told reporters that 57 rounds of polio vaccine had been carried out in the district and medical samples of 45 patients sent to the National Health Institute of Sciences, Islamabad. However, due to lack of facilities the samples had further been sent to the US.

He said the centre of polio was Afghanistan and added that after opening of the Pak-Afghan border and entry of Afghan Nationals polio disease had been on increase.

RAID: Town Police raided a factory manufacturing fake cold drinks in Hameedpura Colony, on Tuesday.

On a tip off, heavy contingents of Town Police carried out a raid at the factory where fake cold drinks were being prepared. Police seized heavy quantity of fake cold drink, instruments and goods, and arrested three labourers identified as Mohammad Hassan, Mohammad Siddique and Altaf Hussain.

The owner Ghulam Mohammad fled from the scene.
