14 shops gutted

DADU, Oct 2: Fourteen shops were gutted when fire broke out in Bodlo Bahar Bazaar in Sehwan late Monday night.

Reports said that two electric cables of 11kv touched each other, sparking fire that engulfed a shop which was reduced to ashes. Nearby shops also caught fire.

On learning about the incident, a shopkeeper, Amir Ali Otho, suffered cardiac arrest and died.

Later, a large number of affected shopkeepers staged a protest demonstration against the taluka municipal administration (TMA) and the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company. Nawaz Ali said that as soon as fire broke out, they informed TMA and Hesco officials but they failed to reach the site of fire. He held the Hesco and TMA officials responsible for the incident.

GIRL INJURED: Two armed motorcyclists tried to kidnap a girl, Ishrat Narejo, 22, from Wadhan Shah Mohalla of Dadu on Monday night and on her resistance, injured her by firing at her.
