12 detained peasants freed on court order

HYDERABAD, Oct 2: On the directives of the Hyderabad sessions judge, Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate, Tando Allahyar, Mumtaz Solangi, on Monday recovered 12 peasants detained at the farm of a landlord in Tando Allahyar.

The session judge had directed the Tando Allhyar judge to conduct the raid on an application filed by a peasant Chunno, resident of Mokrio village, Nagarparkar taluka, stating that he and his family members had been working on the farm of the Ghulam Mohammad Memon but he was not paying them money and instead subjected them to atrocities.

The peasant said that the landlord and his manager Rustum had held his family hostage at the land and he was not allowed to meet them. He said that his livestock was also in the possession of the landlord.

The freed peasants included Sharan, Tejo, Lachmi, Kesho, Dharam Chando, Parwati, Harchand, Resham, Teekam, Kesho, Baby and Shirimati.

The area police accompanied the magistrate during the raid. The freed peasants with their children and livestock were sent to a relative of the applicant near Quba bus stop in Tando Allahyar.
