KARACHI: Traffic plan for Yaum-i-Ali notified


KARACHI, Oct 2: The traffic police department has chalked out a route plan for the occasion of Yaum-i-Ali being observed on Thursday.

To mark the occasion, a procession will be taken out from Nishter Park at 1pm which will terminate at Imambargah Hussainia Iranian at 9pm.

The procession after passing through Nishter Park, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, M.A. Jinnah Road and Mansfield Street will re-emerge on M.A. Jinnah Road and pass through Boultan Market, Rampat Rai Road, Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road before terminating at Imambargah Hussnainia Iranian.

According to the traffic plan, as soon as the procession emerges from Nishter Park, all vehicular traffic from the city side will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road from the M.A. Jinnah Road-Dr Dawoodpota Road intersection (Frere Chowk).

The traffic coming to Bahadur Yar Jang Road from its junction with Dr Dawoodpota Road up to its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road will flow one way. All buses/minibuses/trucks coming from Nazimabad side will be diverted to Nishter Road towards the Zoological Garden from Lesbela intersection.

Public transport

All buses/minibuses/trucks coming from Liaquatabad side will be diverted to Martin Road towards jail side.

These vehicles will, however, be permitted to proceed up to the Central Jail and then move ahead via Jamshed Road up to the junction of Dadabhoy Norauji Road, Kashmir Road, Shahrah-i-Quaideen, Gora Qabristan crossing via Sharea Faisal and via Mubarik Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Dr Dawoodpota Road and Preedy Street to follow their normal route.

When the head of the procession will reach at the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road and Mansfield Street, the vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed straight from 603, EME Workshop towards Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road and Fatima Jinnah Road, till the situation permits.

Afterwards, the traffic will be diverted to I.I. Chundrigar Road from the junction of Court Road and Maulana Din Mohammad Wafai Road.

Similarly, all buses, minibuses and heavy vehicles approaching from the Stadium side will move via New M.A. Jinnah Road and diverted to Dadabhoy Nauroji Road towards Kashmir Road from the Kashmir Road-New M.A. Jinnah Road junction.

All trucks/minibuses/buses approaching from Superhighway side will be diverted from Dak Khana Chowrangi towards Nazimabad Chowrangi No.1 and proceed onward towards Altaf Hussain Barelvi Road, Manghopir Road, Habib Bank Chowrangi, Estate Avenue Road, Shershah, Mauripur Road. The same route may be adopted for a return journey.

All buses minibuses and trucks approaching from National Highway side will proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, University Road, Jail Chowrangi, Jail Road/Martin Road, Teen Hatti, Nishtar Road, Lasbela Chowk, Nawab Siddique Ali Khan

Road, Altaf Hussain Barelvi Road, Manghopir Road,

Habib Bank Chowk, Estate Avenue Road, Shershah and Mauripur Road. The same route may be adopted for a return journey.

Cars’ movement

Car will not be permitted to proceed towards the route of the procession from Guru Mandir and will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road, Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road and will proceed via Nishter Road.

Under no circumstance, these vehicles will be permitted to proceed along Bahadur Yar Jang Road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road.

All cars coming from Mazar-i-Quaid side and emerging on M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road. No vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed towards Old Exhibition under any circumstances.

No vehicle approaching Old Exhibition via Shahrah-i-Quaideen (except those of the participants in the procession and having special stickers pasted on their windscreens) will be permitted to proceed from the roundabout behind the Mazar-i-Quaid towards Old Exhibition.

The vehicles proceeding towards Saddar and other colonies will not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market form the junction of: (a) Preedy Street/Sarmad Road, (b) Preedy Street/M.A Jinnah Road, (c) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/Court Road, and (d) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/Mohammad Bin Qasim Road when the procession reaches near the crossing of M.A. Jinnah Road/Mansfield Street.

No vehicular traffic coming towards Saddar via M.A. Jinnah Road will be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street, Aga Khan Road and Mansfield Street.

No vehicle will be permitted to proceed towards M.A. Jinnah Road from the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road/Preedy Street when the procession crosses the intersection.

The vehicular traffic on Aga Khan Road form Zoological Garden will not be permitted to proceed towards M.A. Jinah Road, Aga Khan Road, Bandle Road (near Ankle Saria Hospital).

The traffic on Martin Road will flow one-way. The stretch of the road between the junction of Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road, Sheedi Village Road, Aga Khan Road, Delumel Chela Ram Road will be out of bounds to all public conveyance i.e. trucks, buses, minibuses, motorcycles, rickshaws etc.—APP
