PWF raps action against newsmen

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Oct 1: The Pakistan Workers Federation (PWF) has demanded exemplary punishments for those involved in ‘state terrorism’ against journalists and lawyers in Islamabad.

The demand was voiced in a resolution adopted at a meeting of the federation held at the Labour Hall here on Monday with Chaudhry Talib Nawaz in the chair.

The resolution said excesses committed against journalists and lawyers were a violation of the rights to freedom of association and information. Such acts, it said, had tarnished the image of the country in the world.

In another resolution, the federation expressed concern over unprecedented increase in prices of essential commodities in general and foodstuff in particular, saying it was due to a free hand given to the profiteers by the government. It stressed the need for steps to brining down the prices to an affordable level.
