Tribal elder’s son killed

TANK, Sept 29: A son of a tribal elder was killed and his another son and he himself were injured when security personnel opened fire on his car on Saturday. One soldier was injured when the tribal elder’s son fired back.

Sources said that chief of the Gigakhel tribe Malik Rafiquddin, who is also a member of the peace committee, and his sons Sheheryar and Rizwan were going from Tank to their village Murtaza when troops signalled them to stop at Warana checkpost.

Malik Rafiquddin ignored the signal and the security forces opened fire. Sheheryar died on the spot while Malik Rafiq and Rizwan suffered injuries.

After the incident, the tribal chief and his son were taken into custody.
