KARACHI, Sept 29: A giant replay screen, which will also serve as a scoreboard, has been installed at the National Stadium Karachi (NSK) on eve of the first Test between Pakistan and South Africa starting here from Monday.

“Overall we are installing five giant size screens around the country at a total cost of $3.25 million,” Nadeem Akram, Pakistan Cricket Board’s Director Human Resources and Administration told reporters here on Saturday.

The 75x44 screen has been installed on the right side of the pavillion at the NSK and will provide additional excitement to spectators while projecting live scores and replays during the matches.

Nadeem said commissioning of modern screens and renovation work is part of a PCB plan to develop the stadiums before next year’s ICC Champions Trophy, to be staged in Pakistan.

It took around one month to commission the screen including the preparations of the base. Top experts from South African company Stella Vista specially flew here to install the screen, he added.

He hoped the screen at the Gaddafi Stadium would be ready by Oct 5 and would be operational before the One-day Internationals against South Africa in Faisalabad and Multan.

However, Nadeem said screen in Rawalpindi would be commissioned after six months because the South Africans don’t have any game in Rawalpindi on their ongoing tour.—APP
