Pro-Musharraf rally in Quetta

Published September 30, 2007

QUETTA, Sept 29: The ruling PML, Balochistan National Party (Awami) and nazims took out a procession here on Saturday to celebrate the verdict of the Supreme Court in favour of President Gen Pervez Musharraf and urged opposition parties to respect the court’s decision.

The procession was led by provincial minister Mir Asim Kurd Geelo and Nazim Mir Maqbool Lehri. It passed through the circular road, Jinnah road and court road and culminated at the city nazim’s office.

They chanted slogans in favour of Gen Musharraf, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Jam Yousuf and Syed Ehsan.

They claimed that the apex court’s verdict was a good omen for the country and President Musharraf’s re-election in uniform would ensure the continuity of the political process and strengthen democratic institutions.

They regretted the derogatory language used by the opposition parties and lawyers’ bodies against the Supreme Court judges.
