SAHIWAL, Sept 29: District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Naseem Akhtar Khan on Saturday ordered a judicial probe into the murder of two accused in `police custody’ in Chichawatni forestry and appointed judicial magistrate Liaquat Ali as inquiry officer.
Reports said Asad Waseem and Sakhawat along with their five accomplices had killed police constable Muhammad Mansha on July 12 and snatched an official rifle, motorcycle and wireless system from a `hawaldar.’
Asad Waseem and Sakhawat told the police that they had hidden the weapon and other equipment in Chichawatni forest. A police party took them to the forest where their accomplices opened fire in a bid to get Asad and Sakhawat released. During a `crossfire’, they were killed while trying to move towards their accomplices. Of the five accomplices, four had already been arrested and one — Ghulam Muhammad — is at large.
