UK parliamentarian joins condemnation

By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, Sept 29: Member of the British Parliament Muhammad Sarwar has said the US government is hell bent on attacking Iran only to have an access to its oil reserves.

At a press conference here on Saturday, he said the war imposed on Iraq and Afghanistan caused panic and its results would worsen in future.

He said the US policy towards the Middle East was only to get access to the oil and save the interests of the Israel. The situation was condemnable and the US had to change its policy, he added.

Spelling out the political scenario of Pakistan, he criticised the brutality against journalists and lawyers outside the Supreme Court and the Election Commission of Pakistan. He said torture was not solution to any problem; the government should handle such issues carefully.

He urged President Pervez Musharraf to let former premiers Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto return home and take part in the country’s politics.

On reaction to the Supreme Court verdict on dual office, he said it was not good that the public hailed the court for one decision and criticise it for another.
