Ashraf’s century goes in vain

KARACHI, Sept 28: Opener Ashraf Ali’s brilliant century failed to save his team Cantt Sports from a three-wicket defeat at the hands of Omer Cricket Club in the 22nd Karachi Gymkhana Tapal Trophy Twenty20 cricket tournament at the KG Ground on Friday.

Ashraf hammered five 4s and four 6s in his 71-ball innings of 105 not out to power Cantt Sports to 196-3 in their 20 overs.

Omer CC, in reply, reached the target for the loss of seven wickets with three balls to spare. Ovais Rehmani made a 52-ball 67, while Salman Ahmed scored 24.

Summarised scores:

CANTT SPORTS 196-3 in 20 overs (Ashraf Ali 105 not out, M Javed 36, Mohsin Sharif 30); OMER CC 198-7 in 19.3 overs (Ovais Rehmani 67, Shaharyar Ghani 45, M Gul 29, Salman Ahmed 24 not out).—APP
