HYDERABAD: Hurdles won’t be tolerated in Benazir’s return: PPP

HYDERABAD, Sept 27: Benazir Bhutto would return to Pakistan as per schedule and if hurdles were created it would be reacted accordingly and the government will be responsible for the consequences, warned the provincial president PPP, Sindh Chapter, Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

He was speaking at an Iftar party hosted in his honour at Shahpur Rizvi near Tando Allahyar by the District President, Syed Zia Abbas Rizvi, on Wednesday.

Ms Bhutto’s announcement to return to Pakistan was welcomed by the party’s activists as a challenge he said and added: “She was determined to change the destiny of downtrodden, peasants, workers and jobless youth by adopting the slogan of her father - Roti, Kapra Aur Makan.”

President Sindh Peoples Youth, Aajiz Dhamra said the Youth Wing of the party was ready to face any eventuality.

Others who spoke included Imdad Pitafi, former Senator Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, MPA Syed Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi, Syed Zia Abbas Shah Rizvi, Mian Ali Mohammad Walhari and others.

JSSF plans protest: The Jeay Sindh Students Federation has announced to hold protest rallies and hunger strikes across Sindh on Saturday against the Registrar, Sindh University and the Students Welfare Officer for masterminding clash between groups of students, supporting the accused and failure to get the accused arrested.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Thursday, the JSSF leaders Rooplo Choliani, Sohail Bhatti, Suriah Sindhi, Akhtar Shaikh and others said that on September 25 at 10am, the Students Welfare Officer, Rafique Brohi along with some members of his community resorted to direct firing on the JSSF activists outside the Art Faculty.

They said the party activists were also attacked with sticks in which Hafeez Pirzado, Shabbir Palijo and Irfan Maznani were seriously injured. They said when they took the injured to the LMU Hospital they again were attacked by the Brohis who belonged to the SPSF.

They said to have approached the Jamshoro Police who not only refused to register the FIR but also arrested the injured Shabbir Palijo and other JSSF activists. They said the same people again resorted to firing at hostels in the evening in the presence of police and Rangers. They said Irfan Maznani and Hafeez Pirzado have been admitted to hospital due to their critical condition.

They held the Registrar and the Students Welfare Officer responsible for the attack. They said they had decided to lodge an FIR against the Registrar and Brohis and added that if police refused to register the FIR, they will approach the court of law.

They asked the writers and intellectuals of Sindh to appoint a committee to inquire into the matter and if the JSSF was guilty it would accept any punishment.

The JSQM leader, Dhani Bux Solangi who was also present at the press conference said that not less than 36 officers had been granted extension in the university and therefore, they were least concerned with the welfare of the university or the students.

WARNING: The All Pakistan Solangi Welfare Alliance, Sindh Chapter has announced that the Solangi community will stage protest demonstrations outside press clubs at all district headquarters on Friday against the issuance of threats of dire consequences to lawyer Zahoor Baloch, who was the defence counsel of Qazi Ghulam Mustafa Solangi, by the opponent group.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Thursday, the provincial president of the alliance, Sohrab Ali Khan Solangi alleged that Qazi Ghulam Mustafa Solangi, a senior office bearer of the alliance, was arrested in a concocted case some weeks back.

He said on Wednesday, Zahoor Baloch, who is the defence counsel of Qazi Ghulam Hussain Solangi, appeared in the court to argue his bail application but was threatened with dire consequences by the opponent party. He said this has created unrest among five million Solangis of the country.

He said the alliance has, therefore, decided to stage protest demonstrations outside all press clubs of the province at district headquarters on Friday and added that these protests will continue for an indefinite period till legal action was taken against the opponents for issuing threats to the defence counsel.
