QUETTA, Sept 26: The SP Investigation Cell, Syed Sharyab, and his two guards died when their vehicle was ambushed in the Samungli area here on Wednesday night. The SP’s driver and security in charge of the Pakistan Television Centre, Quetta, who were also in the vehicle, were wounded, DIG operation Rehmatullah Niazi told Dawn.

Sources said the SP was going to the Killi Ismail area to drop his friend Fida Hussain when they came under attack. The two guards were killed on the spot.

The SP, his friend and driver Khurram Shahzad received injuries. But the driver managed to bring the vehicle to the Saddar police station where the SP succumbed to his injuries. Proscribed Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack.
