Robbers kill man on resistance

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, Sept 26: Robbers shot dead a man and injured another when they tried to foil a robbery in Nathoki Sundhawan village on Wednesday.

Farmers Javed and Azam were on their way to home on a motorcycle when four robbers intercepted them near their village and tried to snatch cash and motorcycle from them. They opened fire at them when they tried to resist.

As a result, Javed was killed at the scene and Azam was injured critically. He was later taken to the district hospital.

ADVICE TO POLICE: The Public Prosecution Depart-ment has advised police to focus on the law and order situation instead of registering insignificant drug or illegal arms cases.

At a briefing here on Wednesday, District Public Prosecutor Chaudhry Fiaz Ahmad Warraich said police had registered thousands of insignificant cases of illegal arms and drugs, adding that the accused in most cases were bailed out by courts after police failed to bring evidence against them.

BAILIFF RECOVERS MAN: A bailiff appointed by the district and sessions judge raided Aroop Police Station, recovered a man detained there illegally and produced him in the court here on Wednesday.

The court has summoned five police officials, including the station house officer, on Thursday (today).

Earlier, Ijaz complained to the court that police picked his relative Amir and detained him illegally.
